question about vacume boosters

i got an extra vacuum booster in a pile of parts from the 47 i bought. i looks later and good shape. my question is could i use it on my 58 pw do i need a dual port master. can i get the vacuum from the engine. i have never hooked one up before. i was going to take it apart and check the rubber diafram.
