A simple plastic/nylon shield could take care of what I was talking about. I remember once driving off road when a rock popped off my tire and hit my screw on oil filter in my 75 Chevy. Knocked a pin hole in it and I was glad I caught it and was close to home. After that happen I wrapped my filter to protect it.
