I repaired a metal gas tank for my little outboard motor with a product called Marine-Tex. It has held for over 15 years.
You didn't say if the fuel tank in your saw is metal or plastic. I suspect it's plastic, and I have had NO LUCK finding anything that will adhere to plastic gas tanks.
