I screwed around with the squirt bottles and suction pumps for years and finally broke down and bought a bucket pump with a lever handle. Not very expensive any more and well worth it. Sometimes hard to position the pump so you can work it and still keep an eye on the filler hole, but short of anything motorized or air powered, this is the way to go. For transferring from a 55 gal drum to a 5-gallon bucket I use one of the crank-type barrel pumps.
