I was using a threaded hole on the bell housing 3 inches from the started mounting. That was as close as I could get it to the starter without using the starter mounting bolt. Did not make any difference when I moved it to the generator bracket location. I did that because I think I found a special bolt (on a different engine) that mounted the bracket to the block and had a 3/8 thread sticking out to attach the cable to. The 00 cables were the biggest factor for the 6 volt system. With the 12 volts the grounding location seems to be less important.
