I could not get my truck to start using a 6 Volt battery but would start easily with a 12 volt. I wanted to use 6 volt as original. Positive ground cable is attached to stud on engine block at the generator bracket.Cables switched from 1 gauge to 00 gauge. I have not used the foot starter yet, just my hand pushing the lever on the starter. It finally worked. I know it can start so when I put the foot starter on, that will be my new variable if it doesn't start.
