Most Mopars had the heat riser built into the manifold. GM used that type you are taking about. Back in the day you could buy a repair kit for the heat riser from Mopar. I fixed a bunch in my younger days. In the later years right before fuel injection they started using electric heater grids mounted right under the carburetor. It was control buy a thermal switch mounted in the coolant passage.
