W e have a lot of it around here. Where I used to work, they had me clearing fencerows and pasture ground that was infested with it. Get a Osage and multiflora rose bush combo and it gets nasty. Thorns everywhere, head to toe. As you said best heat value out there and VERY heavy.

It pops bad too when burnt. When cut green it has a VERY sticky sap that gets to be annoying on saws and clothes(gloves and such). Dulls a saw quick even when green. If you cut dead stuff, you'll be doing good to get a truck load on one sharpening and that is with no ground hits. I like Mulberry better as it has no thorns, less sap and easier on chains.

When cut green for posts, it's the longest lasting stuff I've ever seen, way better than locust. Just don't try to nail into it when dead as you will be bending a lot of metal! We actually pilot holed for staples.
