but i was in a big truck bone yd mosing around and checked out some mack doble splined axles and they bump into each other in the middle of the diff with a hair of clearance so i think ours could bump into the spider pins with a hair of clearance

the mack axles i was looking at are course splined not fine

pc of 1 3/8 dia 4140 only cost $20 here

they sell 4140 here
