Thanks, this is where I am now. I edge glued all of the narrow srips of white oak then cut the assembled floor into three pieces leaving a 1/4" gap under the steel runners. All of the edges and fixtures are rabbeted in with a plunge router bit. I made oversized patterns to guide the router.Sort of a fun project for a welder fabricator, haven't used much wood other than log house building.
