In more detail the slip portion was the splined section that slid into the transmission. Maybe not the best, but it worked fine. The "short shaft" TH 400 may have come out of a Camaro, instead of the El Camino. It had a shorter tailpiece than others. Used a Lokar shift setup that came up through the original location, very sweet looking.
