Big nut problem!

I have been collecting all the different sizes of wheel bearing socket that I need to work on my trucks and I have run into a problem with the sockets for my 58 W100(with full floating rear axle).

The front nuts are the big problem, by my measurements they are 2 7/16" 6 sided, but the closest I could find was a 2 1/2" socket.

The OTC 2 1/2" 6 sided socket will not fit into the hub, so I can't get the socket to the nut, and the Blue Point(Snap-On) 2 1/2" 6 sided socket almost fit, but would not go in until I ground off the corners a bit.

I now have a socket that works(the modified Blue Point), but I was wondering if there was a source for a 2 7/16" 6 sided socket, as I would like to be able to buy a stock item if possible. Plus the 2 1/2" is a bit loose.

Just in case you were wondering the 2 3/8" 6 sided socket does not fit on the nut.

How about factory tools, what size are they?

The rear nut is about 2 1/2" 8 sided, and the closest match I could find was from OTC, and it was 2 9/16". This socket works, but is a little loose.

Any sources for a 2 1/2" 8 sided socket?

Any and all help welcome!

Just remember I don't want to use the chisel method, I am tired of filing down the nuts!

Eric
