What I got told a few years back is that the rear cam bearing is machined into the block, and after years of use gets worn, but will hold oil pressure. That is until a rebuild is done and the block gets cleaned up to include all the gunk that was in the rear cam bearing helping to keep the oil pressure. With the gunk gone as you said Fred, the block is toasted. This was told to me a few years back by one of the guys at VPW. Robert
