I have a friend who paid $17500 for an early Toyota LC with a factory diesel (imported from Costa Rica). He was convinced the body was original and rust free, but later, after hauling it from the port of entry in Long Beach to Idaho, someone burst his bubble by laying a magnetic card on the side of the body in several places, only to watch the card fall to the ground. He engaged a body man to root out the bondo and repair the rust areas. He recently told me he would happily sell the LC for $35000 (in order to come out even), and it still needs to be painted. :(
