Well, now that I've had a day to fall back and regroup after my PTO debacle of the last few days I am once again feeling good about the slow but steady progress that I am making on my truck. This is, after all a hobby for me and I needed to cool down and recognize my failure as the opportunity to learn that it has proven to be! I now know more about PTOs than I ever did before and have learned the importance of checking assemblies BEFORE disassembling them or trying to make them fit something that they weren't designed to fit. Although the PTO that I rebuilt looks VERY similar to the one that came off of my truck originally now that I look at them side-by-side I can see that the newer one is considerably larger. It also has one more tooth on its driven gear than the one that came off and the shaft that the forward and reverse gears spin on is much bigger in diameter. There may be some leads from forum participants in my search for a correct PTO to rebuild and reinstall to get my truck back on the roads and trails. Anyone else that may have an EARLY (up-to) PTO that they would consider selling is welcome to contact me and any and all guidance will be greatly appreciated!
