Think about it like this...none of the big trucks had syncros. Syncros are kind of like idiot lights. If you screw up a shift, the syncros will cover your mistake...but they also wear out. When you first get in, you'll hate non syncro. After driving for a couple weeks...you won't even know the difference.
It becomes second nature to know when the gears are travelling at the correct speed to shift without thinking about it. There are however folks that just can never learn. It just kind of depends if you have a mechanical mind & understand what you're doing.
