Because the truck might have " lived its life" in California, and thus have little rust, you may be in luck.
On the driver side frame rail, up front by where the steering box attaches, the VIN is also stamped.
Check in "Phils archives" from the top of this website page for photos of this.
My truck, being from the eastern U.S., had too much rust and the frame VIN could not be seen.
