I'm installing a 12-valve all-mechanical Cummins 5.9 in my 1994 Chevrolet 3500HD 1.25 ton 4X4. Well, I'm not doing it personally - the Diesel Shop here in Flagstaff is doing the actual work while I spectate.

This truck, which has a Dana 70 front and Dana 80 rear axle, had a 6.5 GM engine which threw a rod one extremely cold morning a couple of winters ago. So I got a low-mileage 5.9 (72K miles) and it is being installed behind the 4L80E automatic transmission.

I'm using Diesel Conversions, in Kalispell MT for all the parts to do the changeover, and, so far, so good. This is not a real easy operation - the manual that comes with the changeover kit suggests that it will take a competent mechanic about 100 hours to complete.

I'm sending pics to Joe's email, so possibly they'll show up in a post here...
