I can drive a paved road from here to the top of Mt. Laguna in an hour. Um, 6,700 ft? The big fires we get here in San Diego , 400,000 acres or more, 700,000 in 1971. All the way from there to with in a few miles of the beach.

About ten inches of rain per year over most of the brushy areas. Less east of the mountain ridge.

News a minute ago has another brush fire about five miles southeast of me, evacuations going on. Oh, more current, 15 acres, evacuation lifted, 40% contained.http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Spring-Valley-Pointe-Parkway-Brush-Fire-390506311.htm

Other than the L.A. basin, southern California is mesas cut with canyons. Towns are built on the mesas, the canyons were built around. Real spots of wildlife- coyotes and Mohave Green rattlers in the city limits. And tinder waiting for a match.
