I have seen a handful of tanks with the two halves put together wrong. Powerwagon John had one or two at a rally a couple of times.

Both bungs should be on the bottom. Front (nearest the radiator) is the inlet from the radiator. Rear takes a standard petcock like found on the radiator and engine block.

You can see how the two halves were put together wrong as they do not line up correctly. No need for an air bleed as the overflow tank has an overflow of its own. You would not want one to be sealed as it would not siphon and would defeat the purpose. Just as scabbing on a pressure radiator cap on the radiator would defeat the purpose.

Sorry Spence. You have a miss-minted coin there. I can offer to take if off your hands should you be so inclined to avoid possible embarrassment.
