Rod Knock.
Well, ol Blueberry suffered a massive heart attack on the way home yesterday. Developed a serious knocking, very painful to hear!
She finished the last 20 miles on the back of a roll-back.
The engine was sleeved and bored 60 over, I have never figured that scenario out.
I spoke with Vermont Engine today and they said that removing and replacing sleeves is a real pain, and didn't recommend trying to fix this one.
I have an event Labor Day that I really need to have her for, and Vermont Engine is booked too much to guarantee that they could have it for me anyway.
After looking around, I answered an ad from Justin, who I met this weekend at the Rally whose engine had been sold, but he put me in touch with another guy who has a couple of good runners to choose from. Heading to get one this Sunday, so hopefully Blueberry's convalescence will be fairly brief.
I am thinking the poor performance at West Virginia followed by the blown head gasket last fall and pretty poor power this summer were all clues to the upcoming failure.
