The best way that I can suggest is to connect every thing up. Connect the pitman to the steering box then to the steering arm. When connecting the pitman arm to the steering box, make sure that the wheels are pointed straight forward and center the steering wheel in the middle of its turns then connect the pitman arm to the box (if the steering wheel turns a total of 6 turns end to end then set it at 3 turns from the end when connecting the pitman arm). Then put the tires on the ground wheels facing straight forward. Now grab the steering wheel through the window while standing outside the truck. Gently rock the steering wheel back and forth until you meet resistance. You should see the front wheels starting to move at the point you hit resistance. The steering wheel should only move about an inch or so between left and right resistance points. Any more than that it needs adjustment. If you do any adjustment do it in very small increments.
