Pony motor on a D4 and a D6 are 2-cylindar horizontally-opposed flatheads, unlike anything else in the world. It's all very "custom" from the way mounts to the cat such that its drive gear can drive the pinion and coolant flows through both engines, to exhaust that's both routed through the diesel air intake AND serves to support the heavy cast iron intake and air cleaner. The whole thing is shallow to fit between the dash and the diesel block, but wide. It has its own governor and electric starter, magneto and fuel system. There's no other engine that's anything like it, so it's a matter of either rebuild it as designed, or cobble something else on in some mickey-mouse way, like I'm attempting. Electric conversions seem to be pretty popular but then you need a big enough stack of batteries to crank for a long time, and I don't want to have to rely on battery power out in the boonies.
