According to the latest reports from the world of quantum physics, the universe is still expanding, but much more rapidly than expected, given the known amount of matter in it. Therefore, it stands to reason that the hole (non-matter-occupied-area, or NMOA) will be expanding along with everything else in the universe.
So, it all comes down to having some patience - wait a while, and your NMOA will enlarge by itself. Then it's merely a matter of measuring the enlargement until it achieves the size you're looking for.
