You might consider using some vertical pieces of 1/4" x 2" or 3" flat bar, scribed and cut to match the curve of the bed. Then weld some 1/8"sheet to both sides. Close in the top and bottom, leaving drain holes in the bottom. Fabricate a hinge and latch system and some support chain.
