Power Wagons are probably always gonna be worth more as PWs than as fire engine collectables, BUT -

The Holy Grail of collectable fire rigs are the piston-pump Ahrens-Fox pumpers of the 1930s. Many of these were built for fire depts on the East Coast, and some were really amazing.

For my money (as if I HAD any) the best of them all is the 1939 A-F built for Ocean Grove, NJ, which incorporated a '39 Cadillac cab into the build for no reason other than it looked really cool.

A photo of it is on the upper right of pg. 184 in Walter McCall's American Fire Engines. Directly to its left is another A-F "quint" that cost $20,000. Imagine what that kind of cash would get you in 1939...
