Sounds pretty crazy. Maybe here, with forest fires a very real possibility, people are more sober about it. Or maybe there are just fewer people.
Not sure if Shelton is in Kitsap county but a guy I used to know told me when he was a kid his dad was in the Corps of Engineers and for fun on 4th of July they'd take a load of dynamite out into the forest outside of Shelton somewhere (not sure whose forest) and blow up fir trees. Specifically, they'd stuff the powder under the trees and see how big a tree they could blow how high into the air. I'm pretty sure it was spotted owl habitat.
