Okay. For a scientific controlled-condition experiment, here is what you need to do. Start out on the easiest surface and work your way up to the dry asphalt, gaining experience, ability, and confidence in the process. The first (easiest) surface would be black ice, followed by wet lake ice. Then move onto dry lake ice followed by firmly packed road snow. After this you could try wet leaves covering cold asphalt. Next would be 1/4-inch of clay dust on dirt road. Then, limestone gravel road followed by loose sand on concrete. Lastly would be wet oily asphalt followed by wet clean asphalt and finally, dry asphalt.

I anticipate you will loose all control at about "wet lake ice" and power out at "dust on dirt road".
