I have had very similar experiences with a small Stihl garden cultivator. I bought it 3 years ago, used it in spring and in fall for 2 years. 1st time it started fine. 2nd, 3rd and 4th times I have had to take it to the dealer. I follow all of their instructions. Non-ethanol fuel that they sell for $8.00/qt. Stabilizers. Run the fuel out. Every time I have been billed, except for once when they discovered the replacement carb was the wrong one. Tools are like people. They don't make them like they used to. :)
Cheer up. It's going to get worse.
