My Stihl 045 that I bought in 1974 still starts and runs every time I want to use it, no matter whether I leave it full or half full or empty of fuel. My newer Stihl stuff...different story. Always a struggle, no matter what I use for fuel or how I store them.
It can't all be the fuel, since the 045 works like it does. It must be related to the way they are making the engines, fuel lines, and tanks.
