I believe this was one of the best rallies yet. Keith Wolfe and I left WV at 4am Thursday. Along the way, we picked up the second of a pair of WC-11 panel trucks from Jeff Chester in OH. We arrived just in time for the wiener roast at Phillips farm. Was really great to see so many friends who share the passion for these trucks and the folks who keep them going. Spent a good part of Saturday at VPWs getting some of the bigger bulkier items that will be needed for the panel truck. Jens And crew really know their stuff and have done us all a service by sourcing hard to find parts. Picked up a copy of The US Dodge book by D. Dweyer. It is full of early pictures of the military trucks and will be invaluable in the restoration. The crew at VPW also helped load a 318 poly from Jeremy's truck to mine for a future project. Picked up an 8" Alaskan camper from a local couple after looking for several years. Will go great in the back of a Power Wagon. Spent the afternoon catching up with my brother and nephew and friends and studying the incredible variety of trucks on display. I can't remember seeing so many Military trucks before. It was great to learn about some of the unique features of the half tons. Wasted some time troubleshooting the fuses and relays for the AC on my Super Duty, which wouldn't work but mysteriously fixed itself on the ride home thankfully. Arrived home with the panel truck in tow only to find the trailer plug had been pulled loose along the way and was completely stripped from the cord. Unbelievable. No idea how many miles we traveled without lights and trailer brakes. We were lucky. It's great to be making so many new memories while preserving some of America's history. Nice to see so many young folks getting into the hobby also. Looking forward to VT and WV and the 30th annual rally next year!
