CS, it should not make hardly any noise at all,just barely audible, the clearance should be about .006 to about .009 or .10, if you have a good feel for it, access thru the oppisite side plate. the gaskets are the shims to change the gear engagement, don't forget that two of the nuts that hold the pto on are tapered, with a pair of corresponing holes with a countersink, these always go on first. the tranny itsself will normally make a little noise in third gear, but still not bad. Dave Horvath had one one time that you had to wear ear plugs to ride or drive. Dave.
