I used ours to dig crawl spaces for houses. I would angle the blade and then pressure down against the ground. The tip of the blade would start the dig and eventually I could scrape out a pretty decent hole. The houses were small, rectangular, govt. financed, for low-income buyers. Usually around 1000 sq. ft., so it wasn't real complicated.
But it really did a great job moving snow. :)
