This hub/drum combination has the most amount of weight of all four corners of the truck. Needless to say, I keep this one on a back corner.

These weights are steel and appear to have been installed when the drums were new. They are either spot welded on or possibly plug welded. I could calculate how much weight was used here, but suffice to say - it was a lot. I have no way of knowing if this particular drum was mated to this particular hub at the factory. All I know is that when I had the drums turned for new brake shoes way back when, this drum was turned on this hub and they were marked as a set. So I do know that regardless of which corner I install this combination the brake pad surface will be concentric to the spindle lands. I did not have the combinations balanced at that time. I hindsight, I probably should have. But I have never felt a great need for the tires, wheels, drums, and hubs to be balanced. If they were. maybe I would become spoiled and feel differently.

I did remove all wheels from the truck this morning before taking these pictures. I did not do it just for this post however. It was time for their annual rotation anyway. ;^)
