Background:

I have 2 1970's Dodge NP 435 trans. #1 is from a 1974 W500 and used a hydraulic bellhousing and the longer and bigger 10-spline input shaft. It has a Chelsea 352 series looking PTO - but it is in fact a S458R-A1-GG W74. It has 2 forward facing output shafts with 1 shaft going reverse and the other goes forward based on the 3 shifter postions with the middle shifter position being neutral. This trans as a 35 tooth cluster gear to drive the PTO.

#2 trans is out of a 1978 W200. 23 spline input and mechanical clutch/bellhousing. It has warning tag on PTO cover that it had a 34 tooth PTO drive gear installed.

Both transmissions have dr side PTO openings:)

While I would prefer to swap the 23 spline input to the other trans and call it a day b/c the W50 trans has the shorter mainshaft I need, the W500 trans has 1/2 a mounting ear missing and cast iron is a PIA to weld.

Goal:
Assemble a NP435 using the W500 version's shorter mainshaft and cover (ebrake mount cast on it) with a PTO to operation my LU4 front winch.

Questions:
As my Chelsea PTO looks just like a 352 series PTO, can I mix its internal gears around to make it reversible on the 1 output shaft?
(If so, I can swap the W500 trans guts to the other NP435, drill and tap the case for the shorted output bearing retainer and be done.)

If I cannot make my 458 series Chelsea bi-directional, which cluster gear should I use when I reassemble a trans to use with a 352 series? Or in other words, which is more common? (34 or 35 tooth).
