They are cut into the headliner, above the window about 3"-4"
On one end of the light it has two clips that slip over the edge of the headliner material from the cut out area, and on the other end you need two speed nuts (like what is used on the glove box or W100, W200 fenders) that will also clip over the material and then screws from the cab side of the light secure it in place. Then the lens and chrome bezel clip on.
