I sure was. As I was turning the saw every which way, the piston did jam to where I couldn't crank it over. That's when I knew something had to be inside it. I'm still amazed that motor could buzz along at 4000 rpm or whatever they run at, and the screw never found its way to either port.

Another time I got lucky was when the valve adjusting nuts came loose on #1 cylinder of one of my multifuels (some motor pool doofus must have forgotten to tighten them) and I drove it 50 miles further with only 5 cylinders firing. When I pulled the valve cover, both nuts were lying right on top of the head, rather than falling down into the oil pan or getting jammed under anything, and the loose push rods had been happily jumping up and down in their holes, also without ever getting jammed or bent. Once in a while, I get lucky.
