It was a NH beautiful weekend, and I should have been working on my nasty old frame rail, fixing that mess, but...I had to replace the rack and pinion on my 2006 Toyota Tundra due to it rusting out and leaking all over the place.

I installed a remanf rack, and flushed the system by filling the reservoir and turning the steering wheel back and forth until no more bubbles/burps came out (with the engine not running).

Everything works fine, but when there is no pressure on the steering wheel (wheels straight, hands off) there is a hum/woosh/slight vibration sound from the rack. The slightest of pressure turning the steering wheel and the noise stops. Release and it starts again. It is definitely the rack, the pump seems quiet.

Anyone have any thoughts on what this might be? I hoping that I just need to get the air out? Any suggestions?

Once this is fixed, I can get back to the WC!

Thanks,

Don
