It's pretty simple, it's called functional obsolescence. The accountants and engineers have colluded in figuring out a way for tires to self destruct after a period of time so you will have to purchase new ones. They sell lots more tires this way. I'm sure they could make a tire that would last 10, 20, or even 30 years if they wanted to.

Just like our trucks, current manufacturers are not interested in making trucks that will last 50+ years. They make tons more money selling you new ones every 3 to 5 years. Not to mention all the money they make selling parts to keep them running.
