I still run tires made in the 50s and 60s on some of my trucks
I have noticed the newer tires do not last as long. I recently saw a set of 900x16 non directional that were 10 plus years old. never mounted, sat in a garage, and were junk, Side walls were crack all the way through.!! I have had passenger and light truck tires fail from age on running vehicles that still had plenty of tread left on them.
It is a crap shoot. if the are not cracked they should be good.
on a side note. I have had 2 spares explode on me. one on my Cherokee on one my Blazer. Both were mounted in the back of the trucks.
The Cherokee tire was 7 years old and never on the road. When I called the company. ( I forget who made it) I was told after 5 years manufactures do not warrantee anything.
I think the new materials suck!!
