YES, you can have too much oil pressure.
You want high volume for pulling but not pressure that pegs your gauge.
Several years ago, a diesel truck engine manufacturer thought that high pressure was the way to go to lubricate well.
They only did that for about 2 years. It seems that when the engine fired on cold mornings, the idea of high oil pressure took it's toll. They blew out rear main seals, front seals, and actually lost lubrication on key areas like cam journals because the oil pressure was too high. They went to high volume with only about a 5 pound increase in pressure and have not had any problems since.
SO when you build an engine for high RPM use or heavy duty use like towing, go with high volume and not high pressure
