Dual intake (ie edmunds) and dual exhaust will work great for a car as you need high RPM power and all of this will help with breathing. I think you could find a different head and shave a few thousandths of an inch of the head. This would increase the compression ratio forcing you to use higher octane fuel. I haven't done this but it was an old trick as told by my father in his day. Be careful as not to shave too much off and expose a water passage. I would use straight water in the radiator for a while as antifreeze destroys the properties of oil quickly should it leak. I agree a V-8 would be the best choice. Everything has a limit.
