Mark,

Quite often I travel from my home in Milford, N.H. (along rote 101 to Keene), then route 9 to Brattleboro Vermont and continuing on 9 to Bennington, and eventually Binghamton New York. I don't recall seeing a 50's power wagon fire truck along the way.

You mentioned that your brother went on to Mt. Washington. I'm assuming that he went via Route 9/202 to Concord. Then route 4/202 to some smaller road that headed up to the "rock pile". I haven't been that way in awhile, but it sure sounds like a good excuse to take the old Guzzi out for a ride/search. Let me know if you get better directions.

Traveling on route 9 through southern Vermont is always well worth the time. Bennington is beautiful (Hemmings museum and print shop, the old gas station with various vehicles parked about, the monument, the haunted hotel and of course cheap gas).

The best part is the section between Bennington and Brattleboro. The long up and downhills with numerous curves that take you over Hogback Mountain (100 mile view). Even more fun when the snow is flying (usually October to May). More than likely a road that was conquered by a power wagon, or two.
