You were asking about a 1960 PW which should have been the last year for using the 230. Go to HOME at the top of this page, click on TECH SPECS, Click on the specs for the 55'PW and you will find it states Max.HP at 3600rpms with the governor set at 3200rpms. So it seems you have a problem somwwhere, either your tach setup or something else. Your average healthy 230 should easily rev to 3600rpms and higher.A well built engine, balanced , should be able to rev into the 4500rpm range. While I said it could rev that high , I do not mean it is good to do, even for a moment let alone for a sustained period of time. The factory governor setting of 3200rpms was for a reason
a good reason. The 3200rpm setting was what the engineers considered acceptable sustained
operating rpms for engine longevity at that time.
