Yeah, it's hard to see movement in the pistons when you wiggle the crank on a stuck engine so you put your fingers on the top of the pistons (or on the connecting rod caps if you're underneath) and feel the movement. You could also get a stuck motor from valves hanging up, but I've only had them stick open, not closed, on Dodge L-heads.
