I'm not sure about the truck 318s, as I think that they had less compression than the car's 9.0 to 1. The gross hp. on a 4brl was 260hp. 345tq. A strong engine. They were overbuilt (based on the hemi) and are usually good for many, many miles. They have solid lifters, polyspherical heads (ford-like) and are heavy as hell. There are a couple of aftermarket hi-po parts for them including cam (Isky) and intake (Weiand). Some had two 4brls in the late 50s and were real screamers. I think in 67 the new engine design 318 was the norm. The 67 318 was built 9.5 to one etc. to compensate for the torque loss. I have two wide block 318s, and they have proven themselves to be very reliable, have some extra parts if you're interested.
