A very informative post! I was going to try to explain part of this, but it's been so long since I changed a tire on a deuce-and-a-half that I didn't want to leave anything important out. I do have one addition, however - when you inflate the tire after the bead has broken (especially if the wheel's on the vehicle) please keep your knee AWAY from the tire! A friend of mine was resting his knee against a 16.00R20 on a 10-ton truck, and when the bead popped into place, the sidewall slammed into his knee, tearing it up really bad. You could hear him all over the motor pool, and it only got worse when the paramedics came and applied traction to stabilize it.
