I agree with Bman's advice. I just took one of my
M37's 9.00X16 split rims to Les Schwab's truck
tire shop here in Everett to get the tube changed.
They didn't have too much trouble getting it apart,
but then they do have the tools and know what
they're doing. An impact wrench appears pretty
essential for getting the nuts off. They charged
me $12 for labor, which I think was well worth it.
I have noticed that saying "split rim" in any tire
shop makes the workers groan.

More suggestions: Once the wheel is apart, if it's
rusty, take it and the rim home and paint them
before you have the wheel re-assembled. Obviously
the paint should be good and hard and dry and non-
sticky before you put them back together. Also,
make sure there is a rubber liner ("flap") around
the wheel. They told me that the absense thereof
was probably why the tube wore through around the
valve.

Oh, one last suggestion, if you do it yourself,
be da*n sure the air's all out of the tire before
you unbolt the rim!
