'51 M37 turn signals

My M37 has been partially converted to 12 volts.
It uses two 12 volt batteris in series to deliver
24 volts to the starter. It still has the original
24 volt generator and regulator.

The ignition, lighting and an electric fuel pump
are 12 volt, with power coming off the first of
the two 12 volt batteries.

As long as the batteries are good and reasonably
charged, the system works okay, but the generator
tends to overcharge the second of the two 12 volt
batteries, and undercharge the first.

Here's my question. The truck still has the wiring
and controls for the 24 volt turn signals, except the
rear tail/turn lights have been replaced with 12 volt
trailer light assemblies.

At this point, the turn signals do not work. Is there
any way to make the existing turn signal assembly
on the steering column work with 12 volt lighting?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice, it's always
welcome.

PB
