Well, since I don't have a testing lab at my disposal, I can only speak from personal experience.

I've been using 5W-50 Castrol Syntec 100-percent synthetic oil, and so far, I've been very pleased with it. I also plan to do a little research on the 0W-30 formulation, which sounds quite interesting.

Of course, there are other excellent brands that may also fill the bill.

Whatever brand, formula, or viscosity you use, there is still no substitute for clean oil and an engine and lubrication system that is in good working order. If you have an engine with worn bearings/journals, a questionable oil pump, stressed or damaged parts, etc., even the best lubricants on the planet won't guarantee its longevity. There is always the possibility of failure. Synthetic oils are not designed to work miracles. They're just good lubricants.
